Fampridine

My last relapse was dreadful. But my walking/balance has improved. I have an appointment with my Neurologist this thursday and was thinking about asking to take Fampridine, to hopefully improve it further. Is there anyone on this that can give advice? Adaresh

Heya, my specialist spoke to me about Fampridine about a year ago now and said that i would be an ideal candidate for it but that it wasn’t licensed yet. I’ve had to cancel 2 appointmants with him since this but have phoned his secretary to see whether it was licensed yet. I spoke to her last week and she said that no it isn’t!! I’m due to see him next week and am dying to know why this is? I’ve read up on Fampridine and it looks really promising if it works for you that is. Have you heard different to this? Be good to hear back from you, hope you are well, helen x

Hi Helen, thanks for replying. When I spoke to my neurologist about it, all that he said that this was an expensive drug. Full stop. Literally the conversation ended there. I guess the NHS is all about money esp. during this economic strain!!
