Nerve pain
Hello everyone! I’m not new here, but this is my first time posting.
I was diagnosed with MS in 2022 and, after disease progression in 2024, I was switched to Ocrevus. About 2.5 weeks ago, I started experiencing nerve pain and numbness. It initially started in my right hand, then spread to my neck, followed by my back, and now it has also affected my left side. The symptoms have gradually gotten worse.
When I visited my neurologist, he didn’t do much besides prescribing painkillers and has not suggested getting an MRI. Given that my symptoms are worsening and spreading, do you think I should consider changing my neurologist or seeking a second opinion?

New and worsening symptoms/deficits can be extremely scary, and finding someone to truly listen can be a challenge. I am sorry that you are not feeling listened to, and that you do not think your needs are being met, properly. Before changing neurologist, I would contact your MS nurses, or the Ocrevus nurses, and see if they have any ideas for relief. If you truly feel that you are not being listened to, effectively, then you made need to find another provider. MS attacks the brain and spine, so every nerve in your body is likely to fire off, at any moment. It really becomes more like Whack-A-Mole game, with nerves popping up, then quieting down, again. Only YOU truly know what is happening inside your body, so keep advocating for yourself, and get a little loud if you need to, because our invisible illness needs a proper voice!
