MS Awareness Month

Just out of interest when is MS Awareness Month? I knew bits about MS before I was diagnosed, but let’s be honest, until you hear those shit words ‘you have ms’ you don’t know half of it. There are some big groups around. On fb alone (uk) there is one group set up in lockdown that was called family lockdown tips but it’s now changed its name to family lowdown tips and ideas. There are 1.2m people in that group. Maybe on ms awareness month we should find these bigger groups and stick a post on. Nothing too heavy. We don’t want a woe is me post but paint a scenario that most can relate to, like ‘ imagine loving to walk miles, spend time chasing your kids, to then wake up one day with a numbness. You’ve noticed you’re getting pins and needles, and feeling dizzy. You go to the doctor. They blame stress. Months later you start feeling wobbly and lose feeling in one leg… etc etc. so something people get gripped by, to then say it’s MS. Explain the rough symptoms. How different it is for each person, then stick up a hash tag of ms awareness month. I do find that a lot of people don’t read stuff if you start with an awareness month as it doesn’t affect them. I’ve shared stuff about Tourette’s before as it’s in my family. But ultimately most people don’t care unless it affects them. So by painting a scenario of a normal person with these normal symptoms and how it can progress and how it could be anyone, may draw them in more. Even if just a few people see it differently, it can only be a good thing. Just an idea to get the word out a bit more. Thought about this after the ‘mild ms’ post as it’s obvious a lot of us have come across a lot of people that just don’t get it x
