Getting sick while on immunosuppressants
I'm getting my first dose of ocrevus in a couple days and I came down with a cold yesterday which aggravated my ms and left me unable to walk without my cane, and even with my cane I still fell twice on my way to the bathroom, this is not helping my anxiety about my upcoming infusion, all I can think is how much worse will it be getting sick with a weakened immune system? I know it's worth it to avoid flare ups and more disability, but to go from being someone who never gets sick to someone who gets sick more easily, can't fight it off as well, and that sickness can aggravate my MS? How miserable am I going to be?
Ocrevus lowers you immune system, therefore these symptoms are normal and they are regulating your body. I used to get sick when taking that medication but eventually got away! I’d suggest to drink a lot of water and take vitamins that would help! :)
Ouch it's horrible falling whilst heading to the bathroom, I would know. Maybe get incontinence pads that way, if mobility slows down on the way to the bathroom there's a back up. I had my first Ocrevus in November, I haven't started seeing the benefits yet but with time I may see a change on the second dose.
