I remember my early days like it was yeterday and I was DX in 2003. I was playing tennis weekly when one day I was extremely dizzy. I told my opponent that we need to try again the following week. Same thing the next week. I went to my family physician and he looked at my test results, and said he has to refer me to another physician in the Medcenter. Well he referred me to Dr. Apel who is an ALS specialist. While I'm in the waiting room there were ALS magazines everywhere and I thought my life was over. When Dr. Apel finaly met with me. 1st thing he said was you do not have ALS. What a relief, but that kicked off a week long series of tests. MRI's, Cat Scans and multiple spinal taps. After a week of testing Dr. Apel was still not completely clear. So they settled on the possibility of me having MS and called Dr. Hutton (MS Neurologist). He confirmed my MS and labeled me as having Secondary Progressive MS. That was the beginning of my nightmare of dealing with MS.
