Do you feel lonely with MS?

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? I was diagnosed with MS in 2024, when I was 22, and I’m 25 now. As I mentioned in the title, I’ve been feeling really lonely since my diagnosis. I know MS is considered a relatively common disease, but I don’t know anyone my age who has it. Sometimes it feels like I can’t really relate to anyone around me because no one understands what it’s like to live with MS. I’m alone when I have my pseudo-relapse symptoms, alone at my appointments, and alone when I take my Kesimpta injection. I don’t have a friend, partner, or anyone close to me who I feel would really understand or be willing to just sit with me and listen when I need to talk about the difficult parts of living with this disease. I know I’m probably not the only one who feels this way, so I wanted to ask: Do any of you feel lonely because of your MS? And if so, how do you cope with it? Have you managed to find people your age who understand what you’re going through? I’d really love to hear about your experiences.

I have had MS since 2007, and I have turned it into an advantage to create a wonderful life. Above all, I know that people with MS are special, and I decided to live accordingly. I read a lot about the condition and transformed my life. I made a conscious effort to look at the bright side and remain a positive person; this positivity only grew as I became a more likable person to those around me. Everyone finds motivation in different places. I draw motivation from MS, and it is an amazing thing. It sets me apart from others, and I love that. Please love yourself. The MS diagnosis you are facing is not a negative thing. You are special, and you have been gifted with this. Rest assured, if you have MS, you are also being protected by God in a unique way. I was diagnosed with MS at the same age you are now. I am 39 years old, and I feel healthier than ever. MS is a mirror; it reflects how you see yourself. Now, stand up, look out the window, and give thanks for everything you have. Welcome to the club of special people :)
