Gabor Maté Autoimmune Theory

I am wondering what are other people’s takes on Gabor Maté’s theory on MS. “Maté argues that chronic emotional stress, plays a significant role in the development of autoimmune diseases like MS. Maté believes the mind and body are inseparable, meaning chronic psychological stress directly affects immune function. In his view, emotional patterns can dysregulate the immune system, leading it to attack the body’s own tissues—as is the case with MS. He suggests that people with MS often have personality traits characterized by: • Difficulty expressing anger • A strong need to please others • Repressed emotions • High self-demand and emotional suppression” Although he is a physician, he is not a neurologist. He is observing correlations between people living with trauma/chronic stress and autoimmune diagnosis. I found his theories to be food for thought, however of course isnt a substitute for conventional medical treatments and research. I have previously read that people felt his theory was more harmful than helpful but i personally found it to be quite helpful with choosing to prioritise boundaries in toxic situations for the good of my health.

Its like saying because alot of people with MS eat chips this shows it as a link with ms , I dont believe ms is caused or as a link to our feelings i believe uts causesd by a foreign object entering the body (virus, bacteria, toxin ect.) If it was a feeli gs thi g they would millions more people with MS
