work assistance

When I returned to work following a big relapse earlier this year, my employer asked me to look into what 'reasonable' adjustments they could make, possibly getting an Occupational Therapist in to look at my workplace/workload/hours, etc. Has anyone had any experience of this? (cont.)

I've tried to go through Access to Work (thru Job Centre Plus), explained that my MS is R&R and I was coming through a relapse, and they said they could only assess me when I'm incapacitated - no point in them assessing me when I'm better, even though i explained the nature of my condition! It's taken me a while to find an OT - anyone gone down this road? Cheers!

Hello, following my relapse last year, I was allowed to work part-time (3.5 days/week) - although this also meant being paid part-time! I work in an office, and they purchased a laptop stand and separate keyboard to enable me to work from home whenever I wanted, with my laptop. They arranged for me to park under the building to save me having to get the bus, and the Occupational Health doctor talked to my manager about allowing me longer to complete tasks (I have problems with info-processing, memory, etc). I always have to take lunch breaks, and am strongly encouraged to only work my contracted hours. Hope this helps.
