@gothedistance , it's quite possible, although Neuros like to use it, just to confirm what everything else is saying. A formal diagnosis of MS has to satisfy the McDonald Criteria, which doesn't always insist on it :- https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/mcdonald-criteria
@gothedistance I received my diagnosis a few weeks before a lumbar puncture was done, based on an MRI and various other tests.
