Urine infections ????

Hi everyone,

I keep getting stomach pains, pressure down below.
Sure it is uti.
I keep on getting these.
I must admit, I don’t drink water really.

Are people with ms more acceptable to uti ?

Does anyone else get this ?

Thanks.

Think people with ms are more prone to uti, I’ve never had one but keep drinking loads of water and cranberry juice buy one without sugar that will help to avoid getting a uti

Hi @ncm22, yes, bladder and uti infections are unfortunately more common with MS. The condition often cases bladder issues/weakness too. This often means that even if you don’t realise, the bladder doesn’t always completely empty when you pee. This can leave a small pool which, if not drained/flushed away, can easily nurture bacteria and that’s where it all starts. Always get your GP/nurse to do a dip urine test. These days I always take a sample with me, rather that get there and expect to produce one. Annoying though this is, keep drinking water so you are continually flushing the system through.

@ncm22 , UTIs have been the bane of my life.

You might want to consider a supplement, D.Mannose . This has proved successful in reducing UTIs in clinical trials. I’ve been taking it daily for some years now and it does reduce the occurrence of UTIs.

Many people on Ocrevus say they have had them…think we are just more prone to infection due to some of the DMTs. I don’t think I have one but am going to check as I have lower back pain
