Twitches?

Just wondering if there’s anything anyone can recommend to help calm twitches? I’ve always been a night owl but this is turning me into an insomniac 🙁 I tried some CBD oil from Holland and Barrett and might as well have drank water!

Hi, there are meds that may help but ask your GP or nurse for them.
Baclofen is a muscle relaxant which helps with the twitches and cramps.
Stretching helps sometimes.
But best ask your GP.

@highlander thanks for the reply :). My best friend has recently had a bad experience with baclofen so I wouldn’t be keen on it. I’ll have a chat with my GP – when they can fit me in 4 weeks from now! In the meantime I’ll look in to stretches. Cheers for the advice and best wishes to you x

What doesn’t work for some doesn’t mean it won’t work for others….
I can’t really be without it…or I’d be wound up like a watch.
Under your post there is a box marked spastcity that will take you to how others have dealt with it.
Hope it helps 🙂

@highlander you’re right. My friend’s issues are different so I shouldn’t pre-judge I suppose. We did have a conversation recently where I told her that her path was not necessarily mine. Guess I should live up to my own words lol! I’m only CIS for now so just trying to deal with the peripheral nerve twitches – why they only happen when I get in to bed is a mystery! Thank you for your help and I wish you a good sleep – if that is possible at 2.30am x

It’s party down to your brain not having to process anything interesting, like things going on around you, so it gets bored and causes mischief, like twitches and cramps.
That’s not exactly how it happens but it kinda explains it.
I’m off to try and catch some 💤💤

Gabapentin helped for me but it also made me depressed. Thankfully the twiches went away on their own. Maybe Amitryptaline . I think that relaxes muscles abit aswell.

@caroline_cuddy , don’t write off CBD Oil as Holland & Barrett sell a fairly weak oil. There are others that you may want to try.

CBD Oil has been discussed on many occasions. Locate the by using the Forum Search function (magnifying glass, top left) and search for “CBD Oil”.

Also, nerve pain (twitches) may be able to be treated topically with a Magnesium cream, which is available comparatively cheaply. Have a word with your local Pharmacist……

@cosine thank you for the tips, I’ll have a chat to my GP about what they think could help. I’m a bit apprehensive about drugs because of side effects, I’m generally not that drug tolerant (even 2 ibuprofen makes me drowsy!)

@stumbler I will definitely have a search for what others recommend re CBD oil. I think because I’m not earning at the moment I went for a cheap option but that was not money well spent! I’ll also look into magnesium cream – my friend swears by an epsom salts bath but I am not a bath person, I get too hot and bored within 5 mins! Cheers for your help
