Trigeminal Neuralgia

I have been suffering from pain in face folowing a sore throat. I have been in contact with someine testing positive for covid19 . I came across this tweet today and made me wonder if I had mild case. Diagnosed my first case of Trigeminal Neuralgia due to acute #COVID19. I’ve heard of ageusia and anosmia, but this is the first I’ve seen of CN5 involvement. It appears that the 🦠 hangs out in the cranial nerves? Anyone else seeing similar cases? #medtwitter #COVID4MDs https://t.co/vZZKoaCWrW

I had TN, blamed on particularly located contrasts on MRI (rather than nerve compression which is more usual) It’s usually treated with medication for neurological disorders like epilepsy (tegrotol, Gabapentin) as they block the signal transmission to the brain (pain killers don’t work for TN) My only option after 5 years was radio surgery to kill the nerve so now I have no feeling on half my face but I’ll take that over TN any day.
