The beginning

I was first diagnosed when I was in the military 30 December 2008. By the time I got into the hospital my right arm was weak and dropping stuff my left leg was also weak and I was falling my balance was gone my vision was off one eye was seeing higher than the other and the right side of my face was drooping. Lucky for me I had some really good officers that were there and I was able to go and see the neurologist before my appointment and then I had my MRI and I had lesions on my brain and my spine I was told I had MS and they did a lumbar puncture to confirm. When I was diagnosed all I knew about MS was it was treatable not curable and Montel Williams had it. I was living in Virginia and the rest of my family was still in upstate New York so it was a little scary to know you had something that you had no idea about anything so I knew I had a lot to learn. My first medicine I tried was Avonnex but that medicine gave me bad side effects and I had three flareups while I was taking it . I knew my neurologist was going to suggest Tysabri and before I was scared to take it but I did some research so that way when he came in I was going to go fort and I was on that for two years but I had to come off of it because I had to JC virus. So after that I took Gilenya I was in that for a few years then I had to come off that because I was getting lesions throughout this time on my MRIs. I have not had any major flareups I have a pain problem that I deal with but my last flareup was in January 2010 . Right now I am Ocrevus and I am doing great no lesions on my MRI and still no flareups still have a pain problem that I deal with and a few other minor issues. I have been doing the MS walk since I was diagnosed first one was in 2009 and I did one in 2019.
