Starting betaferon

I just picked up my prescription for betaferon and I just read this medication is recommended for secondary progression MS as well. I’m a little annoyed with the neurologists I have been seeing for over 20 years and have been SPMS for over 10yrs have never ever mentioned this med to and I have been on 7 dmd and have had bad side affects with all of them. Hate needles but hope this helps me so it would make it worth it.

@lorag , consider yourself fortunate that you've been able to treat your MS. In the UK, there are no approved medications for SPMS. Betaferon is one of the first MS treatments, It is low efficacy and usually a first line treatment. So, it may have been held in reserve for that reason.

I must admit Australia is good for medication available. Well this med has been available here for 15yrs. When I think back I felt two different neurologist wanted to try new tablet meds on me which are more for rrms and I had bad side effects on all of them. I’m just annoyed.
