Sleep Apnea

I had bad sleep apnea last night. It woke me up about 7 or 8 times. I would wake up to breath and feel a little dizzy and inside my body would be shaking then back to sleep, same thing again. It's the second time I have had this over the last 3 weeks. I remember having it about 8 years ago but not knowing I had MS . I think it might be more linked to the severe anxiety I have been having . Come to think of it, if I go back 8 years ago I had a spout of where I was very anxious . I find when I get such severe anxiety and panic attacks I clench my teeth really hard together . I mean I know MS can be the reason but it is strange how the times I have had it was in around stressful times in my life . Then again Stress can trigger things in MS. Oh Lord I don't know all I know is it was very scary and I am so tired now .

@michelle_roche - Sleep apnea is hard to self-diagnose. Ideally a sleep study is needed, or, more often, a sleeping partner will notice apnea. What you describe could also be sleep paralysis, or night terrors, for instance. The first port of call is to reduce risk factors for sleep apnea. Mainly sleeping position (beng on your back is the worst, on your belly is in between, on the side is the best.) Also, Body Mass Index - being overweight increases the risk. Re: teeth grinding, Bruxism is often comorbid with MS, either as a direct symptom, a secondary one (via anxiety) or a side effect of some medication. for that, your best bet is a mouthguard - you can find sports mouthguards that you mold yourself with boiling water - they're a bit hit and miss. Ideally, you can get your dentist to make a custom one - that's what I did, and at least I'm not scraping my own enamel.
