Ocrelizumab - 1st infusion questions

Hi After 4 DMD’s I’m really (nervously) excited to be getting Ocrelizumab on 12th March. Is it a good idea to bring my partner with me? Do I need him there. After the infusion, with lowered immunity, do I have to stay at home for a while? Do you get the steroid fatigue, as you do when you’ve finished a full dose for a relapse? Thanks

Hey! I’d say it’s personal preference if you want your partner there. It can get boring... My friend stayed with me during the first half dose and I went alone for the second one. The Ocrevus takes awhile to work and get into your system so your immune system wouldn’t be lowered immediately I’d think. Just practice good hygiene since infections can be common with Ocrevus. I usually get sick a lot and I’ve been around my son when he’s sick yet I haven’t gotten sick so far since starting infusions in September. Everyone reacts differently to steroids and it’s a small dose given before the infusion. Some people actually have more energy because of the steroids for a couple to a few days. Good luck!

Boring was what I thought it might be for him, so will stay on my own. How lovely it would be to have more energy from steroids. Of course, when we usually get steroids we’re feeling pretty rough. Thank you x
