Numbness..

Well still waiting for appointment neurologist..my left leg been numb since January..so my mobility has got worse but yesterday I woke to find my right leg too is going numb! Toes been numb weeks but it’s lower leg it’s creeping in too now. I’ve still been ok till today to get up stairs steadily..but I’ve noticed it’s felt tiring to climb 12 steps my legs weigh a ton! I presume it’s all related to loss of feeling..the night pains are still keeping me company! 😐 Hope you all have good weekend. Carole.

From your profile it shows you are newly diagnosed and not on a DMT? Have you contacted your Dr/Neuro/MS nurse about what you are experiencing? I would, immediately. Even if it is the weekend in the middle of a pandemic…if you are having a relapse the symptoms may worsen further and be hard to reverse…or they may go away quickly never to reappear…such is the frustrating nature of MS.

But the inflammation (and symptoms) are often treated with Sol Medrol or a prednisone when they are related to an active or forming lesion to great effect. When I was having active lesions earlier in my disease course I would feel 80% better within 24 hours of receiving an infusion. I would receive an infusion delivered through an IV line a nurse would send and could just attach the ball of medicine to it to self infuse so I wouldn’t have have to go into a clinic each day for the infusions which were usually given for 3-5 days.

Now that I am more in a progressive stage of MS and not having active lesions this treatment course would not (and is not) effective. In the early days it was like magic…so give your contact a call and see if they can get you in for analysis, usually an MRI to confirm active inflammation somewhere in the brain or spine- Good luck!

Hi Thank you. I was given predisolone last year when legs starting going with mobility and within day was lot better. I contacted hospital last week to see where my follow on appointment was. I was told neurologist wants to see me in person but he’s been poorly and will see me soon asp. I’ve emailed nurology this morning phoning is pointless. X
