$$$ Novartis – it all about £££

So not only is Lemtrada withdrawn today, but Novartis are being sued for being manipulative parasites…

It has been reported by the esteemed Trevis Gleason at Everyday Health (it’s time for good doctors to stand up to bad business ) I’ll quote…

“In 2011, a former sales representative for Novartis AG — a Swiss pharmaceutical manufacturer known to many people with multiple sclerosis (MS) as the maker of Gilenya (fingolimod) — took out a case under the False Claims Act against the company. His claim: The company had paid out millions of dollars in kickbacks to doctors so they would prescribe its drugs.

The U.S. government and the state of New York saw merit in the case, and both intervened in 2013.

This past week, a U.S. federal judge agreed that the government had significant evidence for the case to proceed, according to an article published April 1, 2019, in Reuters. This means that unless Novartis settles the case with prosecutors, it will go to trial.

A 2015 settlement saw the company pay out $390 million (without admitting wrongdoing) for paying rebates to specialty pharmacies to push two of its drugs.

Earlier, in 2010, they paid $422 million (again, without admitting wrongdoing) to settle civil and criminal charges that included paying kickbacks to doctors.

This latest suit alleges that the company paid speaking fees for sham educational events, including to one doctor who was paid to speak at his own office eight times, noted an article published April 1, 2019, in Fierce Pharma.

Everyday taxpayers are on the hook for millions of dollars as Medicare and Medicaid were billed for prescriptions written for Novartis drugs by doctors who were part of what the government calls a “company-wide kickback scheme.”

The plot thickens…

Hello campers! Lol hi de hi!
No it’s not that I’m a lovely jolly person…..well try to be!
I have primary progressive and some weird things happen at this level so I’m trying not to imagine what the next levels like
At what point do you get the upgrade? Is the next level a big step or dose it happen without you realising? Everywhere I ask docs etc don’t know, there’s no organisation with it! Most of the time I wish I was still working, I loved my jobs, then reality kicks in and reminds me of my job lot!!
I’m not at all moody or solitary even tho I live alone, I just wish this condition had a step by step to make life a bit more tolerable

Enuf misery!!!

@mary_birkin , Primary Progressive MS (PPMS) stays as PPMS. There’s no next stage.

It’s a gradual progression. But, the term gradual defies any specific term in days, months, weeks or years. Just look after yourself and live for the day.
