No VAT? If you have MS, no VAT

Who likes paying tax? Not me. Some of us have to spend quite a bit on items from the list below. You need to give the supplier this form - it is complicated and boring but it is the government, expect nothing less - but remember that for every £10 of a price tag about£1.60 is VAT. Soon adds up. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/419380/Eligibility_Declaration_Disabled_-_March_2015__2_.pdf You’ll have to read this link on the UK .gov website. Certain goods and services are VAT (20%) exempt. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/reliefs-from-vat-for-disabled-and-older-people-notice-7017 >> This list gives a summary of the goods and services that can be zero-rated and where in this notice the details can be found: adaptation of goods – paragraph 5.4 adapted motor vehicles – paragraph 4.1 boats – paragraph 4.4 building works: ramps, widening doorways and passages – paragraph 6.2 bathrooms, washrooms and lavatories – paragraph 6.3 and paragraph 6.4 lifts – paragraph 6.5 preparatory, restoration and making goods – paragraph 6.6 goods supplied in connection with the construction services in previous bullet point – paragraph 6.8 grant-funded building work – paragraph 6.9 emergency alarm call systems – section 7 hydrotherapy pools – paragraph 4.11 installation of goods – paragraph 5.1 low vision aids – paragraph 4.8 medical and surgical appliances – paragraph 4.2 mobility scooters – paragraph 4.10 other equipment and appliances designed solely for use by disabled people – paragraph 4.5 parts and accessories – paragraph 4.9 repair and maintenance of goods – paragraph 5.2 specialist adjustable beds, chair lifts, hoists and sanitary devices – paragraph 4.3 specialist computer devices – paragraph 4.6 << If you have a specific qu then ping me a message. I can’t get into deep things but am happy to help at a high level. Best, Dom

@dominics Just wondering, do you / us have to have documentation stating that we're entitled to be exempt from VAT? As I'm not footing the bill as my wife is the sole earner, so how does that work out for her taxation? All rather complicated.... Answers on a post card please😃 Cheers

@rea

@dominics, thanks for this. I had a thru lift installed about 18 months ago and never thought about this at the time, even though I’ve had Vat relief on other goods. Let’s see if the company will honour it retrospectively 🤔.
