Night pain

Hi people. Well my pain is rubbish tonight again..im new on here and wondered if anyone else just gears up at Night? I can’t even bear the duvet on my legs and my toes on both feet are just so painful..my right hip seems to be radiating pain down my leg. And my shins are burning! My wrists hands and fingers just hurt☹I started CBD oil Monday but I think you must need to be on it a while if it’s to see any benefits. Do any of you find CBD helps? Carole

@carolelawrence
I really feel for you but unfortunately haven’t any answers.
I was drawn to your post “night pain” though as my GP only last week said when I was bemoaning my pains ..
“ ms doesn’t cause pain” 😬

I think there’s quite a few people here who would beg to differ on that…. 🙄

Hope the CBD oil helps you and sorry you’re suffering so much.

I have the same problem I can’t use blankets to keep warm at night so I just put on a small throw blanket and it is the only thing that doesn’t hurt me! I wasn’t sure if it was because of ms or if it was just the way my body is! Now I know that it’s apart of the ms and I have been trying the CBD oil too and it does help me with the pain and helps me get some sleep 😎

@carolelawrence

I also suffer from the things you have listed, my neurologist prescribed me Amitriptyline for the pain and irritating twitches at night time. This medication is mainly used for sleep, but I found that it helps me during my moments in pain.

Good luck!

@carolelawrence
That happens to me too, it’s very frustrating. When I try to go to sleep, my knees start to ache and spasm, making sleep impossible. My neuro prescribed muscle relaxants but I find smoking some mmj works much better. The downside is that smoking makes me long winded and tedious and I tend to go on and on and… Goodnight!

Aww thankyou everyone for replying to me. It gives me comfort to know I’m not alone (bless you all) or thinking these pains are in my imagination…ill keep on with CBD oil and see if it helps. Thank you Carole. X

I take “Gralise” for “nerve pain” and take it at night (also take Vit D, fish oil, Mg and Hi Cap C as well as make sure I have one glass of milk/day for Ca. I used to take tylenol PM in the evenings to keep my legs from jerking around and cramping up but haven’t needed to for months with this regimen and cleaning up my diet keeping sugar and gluten to a minimum.

Just going through bad patch of daytime fatigue agsin which means I can’t do anything but go rest then I can’t sleep at night for pain so it’s a cycle at minute..but I’ll try anything for relife. Thank you. Carole

I spent a year with terrible pain at night and really dreaded going to bed as I slept so badly. The first relief I got was from a low dose of Clonazepam (0.25 micro gram). I now take Clonazepam, Baclofen 20mg as well as Aubagio at bedtime and I am much more comfortable.
I don’t know why the pain gets so much worse at night. I really sympathise with you and hope that things improve soon.

Hmbadwalker thankyou. I’m like you was..im dreading coming to bed but I’m so tired too..its bad again tonight burning dull ache tingling toes even though numb! It’s my right hip down my thigh too the dull nagging ache drags down my leg. I didn’t drop of till 3pm and was awake 6am today..i should think it will be long night again..my partner John sleeps in spare room because it’s not fair me keeping him awake. I’ll get up about 10am so tired..ill do what I need to do round house..then I should say I’ll get to between 1pm and 2pm and get hit with fatigue so bad I can’t even talk it’s too much effort so I go rest till 5pm. Thing is I can lay down for few hours in day..hardly any pain from legs? Go bed at night and within half hour the pain burning etc is back again! Really strange…carole

I have also had a nerve pain, slightly different, but always nocturnal, in my right dominant arm. In 2015. Went away when I had alemtuzumab in 2016, came back this year as alem. wore off.

I have tried a lot of thing. But for me the best is Amitriptyline. Second are benzodiazepines (I now take Clonazepam) when I am having a bad attack. You can’t take these every day or long term as they’re addictive. Basically I need something to make my muscles relax and then the nerves calm down. I think!

I also briefly tried CBD oil, but it’s expensive. Didn’t agree with my tummy and wasn’t strong enough to ease my pain.

One of the best things I did was a brilliant ‘pain management course’ at my local NHS pain clinic. This taught ways of managing and living a happy life with pain.

I found that dancing overrode the pain when I was having an attack in 2015. A great solution and med free.

Did not have a great time with gabapentin. I was on a high dose for a long time and incurred bad mental health side effects. I think a lot of people experience the same.

Good luck and touch base again if you need help.

@carolelawrence in addition to above Amitriptyline and clonazepam , both on low dose, help you sleep. You should talk to your neuro and GP.

Hi all, i also suffer from leg pains, mostly on the back of my carves, i take amitriptyline to help. Sometimes it works, other times i feel i could bang my legs against a wall, just to stop them hurting. I even get my husband to massage my legs, to relax the muscles. Have tried stretching exercises to see if that helps. Sometimes feel like crying, just for the hope that they will stop hurting. Feel jealous that my husband gets a good night sleep. Good luck all- may we all sleep tonight.

Ok thank you again. Within 20 mins of going to bed my leg feet toe pains start or the relentless night burning shins! I’ve been in bed an hour and toes ankles are hurting and burning is back in shins! I think the numbness is getting worse in right foot too last few days..so with numb left leg and foot I will have to be even more careful on balance. Carole x

Carol I too Would have had problems with night pain usually down my left leg and across the ball of my left foot . Along with spasms and twitching in both feet . I now have a nightly regime of 10 Mg Baclofen and 2x 100 mg Gabapentin and I rub Voltarol gel on my keg and foot . That helps me sleep . If I take 20mg baclofen with the gabapen tin it affects my head – lightness and fuzziness .
I tried Cannibis Oil it helped only a little bit . But this regime does help ! Good luck .. I think it’s a case of trial and error to find what works best for your own body !

My everything ramps up at night but particularly pain and numbness. Oh, and asthma, because I’m luck like that.
