Neurologists are way overpaid...

Health care is free in Canada; which is why I always say we get what we pay for... In my situation, I get almost nothing since I pay nothing. Three years ago I had spine surgery - the Surgeon left me a quadriplegic until they called him at home for a 2nd operation. Recuperation was slow so I was sent for an MRI; MS was diagnosed by my Neurologist. We had the initial meeting which he gave me brochures & websites to research; no drugs were approved or PPMS at that time. I was asked to wait more than a year until Ocrevus was approved - so I did... It was approved this year... My Neurologist set up an MRI six months after our last appointment; I am impatient so went on the wait list - my MRI was five months ago; yet I waited & waited for my appointment. At our September 29 appointment he said the MS might be in remission so set up another MRI to check it out. You guessed it - the MRI appointment is six months from now. Considering Ocrevus is not effective for those over 65 years old & I am past 62 - am I actually getting any benefit from my Neurologist appointments? Yes I know he gets big money from every appointment - how does that benefit me??? On a side note; I met the Surgeon last month. Was told that future surgery was too dangerous & the damage in my left arm was part of my life now. The good news is that I have great friends & family to face whatever challenges appear. Should a Neurologist be part of my future?
@Stumbler

@edmontonalberta , Neurologists had to invest a lot of time getting to where they are. As I said to my boss many moons ago, "for what we do, I think we all get overpaid!...........the shame is that some get more overpaid than others!"   If it's of any comfort, it doesn't matter how much you get paid, You'll always manage to spend your monthly salary....................and next month's!" Anyway, if the guy wasn't seeing you, he'd be seeing someone else! It's better to be in the system and monitored, than outside and wondering.........

@edmontonalberta underpaid, overpaid, your not paying towards his wages so why stress about it, I totally agree with stumbler
