Mavenclad

Curious if anyone is currently taking this drug. Dx’d In 2004 RRMS progressed to SPMS in 2017. My neuro is wanting me to try this DMD if he doesn’t hear anything negative about this DMD. My question is does it cause depression? I was on aubagio which heightened my pain level considerably and made me very depressed, which is not my normal way of being.

@alexp1218 , depression is not listed as a known side-effect.

It wasn’t with aubagio either but there I was taking it and getting severely depressed. It was definitely out of character for me.

@alexp1218 , Mavenclad is one of the later MS drugs and one of the “Immune Reconstitution Therapies”, so it works in a much different way.

Wonderful. I’ve taken Novantrone which is a type of chemo as well and had absolutely no depression with it. I did wind up with dilated cardiomyopathy, but the drug itself did do it’s intended job at the time. Are you currently taking Mavenclad?

Hi @alexp1218 i am have now taken my first courses of mavenclad in jan and feb and no noticable side effects. I have quite bad fatigue but wouldnt say that this was a side effect of Mavenclad. I do take anti depressants for anxiety which came in during one of 3 relapses last year. Feeling pretty good fingers crossed. I wish you well and hope you get something which helps.

All the best
Rob

Thanks so much Rob. Please keep me in the loop as to how you’re doing on it. I’ll let you know when and if I can start.
