It looks like I have MS

Hi All, I have just joined this site and am finding it very useful. In Dec I thought I had a trapped nerve in my right arm as my hand had pins and needles and I went for physio. Later in the week my left side of my lips and tongue had pins and needs. I visited My GP and he send me straight to the hospital for get a CT Scan and MRI. Everything moved so quickly and within 48 hours the doctor gave me steroids for active lesions. A week later I went to see a neurologist who said I active lesions and it looks like I have signs of MS. Tomorrow - 14th Jan I have a lumber puncture to fully confirm. I am really scared and I want to know when you get diagnosed do you start treatment straight away. Google searches is making me really uneasy.
@ItsMewithMS

I think if you search using the diagnosis tag above you will see many other posts from people at your stage but most of them are frustrated by how long the full identification and diagnosis process took. A fast identification and action can be likewise disconcerting. My experience was likely more like yours! Thankfully I was guided through it by a Dr that had been working with MS patients for like 20 years and his very compassionate and helpful MS nurse. He had a very calm demeanor and laid out two possible treatment paths and we chose the one that seemed best for me. That was 15 years ago and we only had two options to choose between so the decision was pretty easy. Now there are so many options to choose from and many of the DMTs are much more effective but some of them come with side effects to be aware of. There are also many good sources of information and videos that won't freak you are and are good sources of information. Dr Boster is a great source for information https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvQXygHtYzc Here is another link that leads to a set of links https://www.healthline.com/health/multiple-sclerosis/what-ifs-after-diagnosis?slot_pos=article_2&utm_source=Sailthru%20Email&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=multiplesclerosis&utm_content=2019-10-10&apid=29101565#takeaway Here is a link to the classic debate of "escalation" theory (old school) vs the more aggressive model (new school) https://themswire.com/making-the-right-ms-medication-decison-dmt/ But take a moment to sit back and breathe...you'll work your way through it ;-) hopefully we can help.
