I’m new here

Hello I got diagnosed with MS last year I’ve currently just come out of hospital from having my third relapse I’ve had weakness & severe pins and needles in the entire bottom half of my body. The IV steroids have helped get the strength back in my legs but the pins & needles are still there & im on week 3 with them. Can some one please give me some positivity & tell me they will get better & they won’t be like this for ever. I have 2 young children ( just recently had a baby ) and I’m scared they won’t improve just like my eye sight.

Hello @demi_nicholson, welcome aboard! Goodness me, you’ve been through a lot, I’m assuming you’re diagnosed RRMS? If so, are you on a DMD? OK, so I had a child 27 years ago and still feel like I’m recovering from that! Your body has been through huge upheavals in the last year, so you need to look after yourself exceptionally well, difficult though that will be! The main things are to eat and sleep as well as possible, and live healthily. But not to be underplayed, is the impact that stress and anxiety has on us and our condition, as this can affect us in untold ways. I was diagnosed over two years ago and, persistence and not overdoing things has meant that I was able to recover somewhat. It’s human nature to pray for miracles, but I have learnt that things these days require more planning, and unfold a little slower in the right direction. So, my advice to you would be: treat yourself really well and never feel guilty for doing so. Accept and commandeer every little bit of help you can while you need it, it needn’t go on for ever. Try to keep your planning in shorter terms. The most important thing is to live from day to day, taking small steps for now. Bigger plans and ideas can come once you’ve recovered. You have a lot of support here, we all understand what you are feelin and going through. Soak up all that love from your little ones. Please don’t put your energy into worrying about the future, your future will be whatever you want it to be xx

@demi_nicholson Hi and welcome to the club 😀 Every body is different, I'm afraid. Your symptoms could come and go again... but you learn how to manage them as best you can. There are meds that can help to manage the symptoms like the pins and needles and the spastcity/cramps. If you're in the UK hopefully you'll have been assigned an MS nurse who will be able to assist you with all that. Then there is DMTS disease modifying treatment which may help to stop or slow down any progression or relapses. Under your post there are a few boxes relating to your questions click on them and it'll take you to other posts made about that subject. It's a lot to take in just take your time it's not all doom and gloom honest 😀 Feel free to ask anything you like we'll try and help out best we can. Welcome again 😀
