Hello :)

I'm Em! I am Irish and 23 years old :) I am newly diagnosed with MS, in April of 2019. I was 22 at the time- I experienced sudden double vision in my left eye and after all the tests etc, they told me it was MS. It was a HUGE shock to me, but I was actually kind of relieved that I had a diagnosis. I was put on steroids and the double vision went away :) I started Mavenclad/cladribine treatment in May :) I've been to see my neurologist in the meantime, after having more eye trouble in the summer. After a second MRI, they decided maybe I needed a different treatement; tysabri was put on the table but I refused it because I'm JC positive, so we settled on Avonex then, which has been going really well! :) I had my next meeting with my consultant last Thursday which went REALLY well! He's completely confident that my combination therapy is working fantastically (apparently combo therapy in MS is generally really successful!) so I'm overjoyed about that :) I just wanted to say hi- I've heard about these forums and it would be nice to talk to some people about stuff! I think i've mostly accepted the diagnosis; my family are amazing and they've been a huge support, and I know medicine nowadays for this kind of thing are incredible :) sooo if I could get a grip on illogical health anxities, I think i'd be flying hahah Nice to meet you guys :)

Hi @penmumble and welcome. Yes, let's hope that your present therapy is keeping your MonSter in check.

Hello @penmumble and another welcome. It sounds like you’re amazingly on top of things, which is great! But allow yourself the opportunity to feel a bit miffed every now and then, the diagnosis is still new and your body is getting used to it. Yes, this forum is really useful as a source of information and support. It helped me a lot when I was diagnosed 3 years ago. Stay strong, and keep smiling!
