DOCTOR PHILOSOPH FNANCIAL MEDICAL

I am psychiatrist with a background in neurology. MS 20yr. SP 6/7yr. Live Paris/Brussels Are there other MS people - doctors interested in the meta issues:- - philosophical perception of us with MS by socioety and by ourselves - sociological role of medicine in MS and other disabling long term illnesses, - critical assessment of the medical literature on DMT's. and other interventions - government/societal financial input (In Western EU, 60k+€/pa spent on EDSS 4-6.5) and the reality or the multi billion MS care industry and over which we have no control..... If interested would like to talk

@dol , this Forum is more about peer self-support, rather than academic involvement from the medical profession

I only discovered 'shift' recently. I do understand the nature of the site and my interest is not in achademic rresearch. My interest is i9n ' peer self support', though from an angle, perhaps, not quite typical of other contributors. To be clear, I am a doctor with SPMS. I work, as do most of us, with significant disability issues and a significant financial loss. I also work with the greater societal difficulties we all experience every time we go out on the street or interact with family or friends. As a psychiatrist, I am deeply aware, that how we are perceived, how we experience ourselves and how we present ourselves, determine a great deal of how we are handled. This, in turn, significantly contributes to our mental health and how well we physically handle MS. How we present ourselves is also important, not just as individuals with MS, but as a group. 4-5£ billion are given to the MS care industry in the UK and in France every year. It is spent on our behalf, with no consultation - why?. As a doctor I know the paucity of research evidence that underlies the multi billipon DMT pharmaceutical industry. So, having discovered 'Shift', I wondered if there are others, including doctors with MS, who share a need to talk about these very personal issues.
