Coming off tecfidera

Hi everyone hope you are all well, I had my bloods done yesterday with my ms nurse, I mentioned to her how ill I’ve been with colds turning into chest infections, nasal infections etc and told her I’ve came off tecfidera for a month (really bad I know!) with moving house and dealing with the girls but since I’ve been off the treatment I’ve felt so much better I have a bit more bursts of energy and not been ill, she checked the record of my last blood result whilst I was still on treatment and my white blood count was really low so that explains the constant illnesses, I’ve to stay off treatment until I get an MRI and see my consultant in August but thinking about it I think for the time being I just want to be off treatment, is anyone else with rrms but choose not to be on treatment?

@chezn87 , as we know, being DMT-free is a bit of a risk. But, you want a DMD, which is going to protect you for the future, whilst not deteriorating the present. That seems to be what Tecfidera was doing to you. Taking a DMD break seems a reasonable idea. Once you have an up-to-date MRI, you'll have some specific statistics available to you to make a reasoned decision about adopting a different DMT for the future. Just enjoy the break and look after yourself.
