Change career - MS and new career clash!

I’d spent 20 years or so working ‘in’ accounts! So working for local accountancy practices and eventually for a national charity at headquarters, responsible for vat returns (partially exempt, ha ha!) and preparing annual accounts through to audit, then post audit and finalising. Decided I wanted a change! Went back to college to read for a theology degree, and that led on to training for the Methodist ministry. Knew something was wrong, with my legs which felt odd, always needing the loo, etc - you know the sort of thing. Took a range of tests, but told not MS, not brain tumour. Let it get worse and come back and we’ll test you again! Started as a minister in the West Midlands, but really struggled badly during first year. Told ‘everyone gets exhausted in their first year’. But like *this*? Had another series of tests, much the same, a bit different. This time had lumbar puncture for first time. Eventually got to see the consultant again. Nothing’s conclusive, but probably PPMS. Read literature. Oh, I never told him about my exhaustion/fatigue!! Diagnosed in 2000. Worked in ministry for a total of 5 years, then had to retire. It took months to surface enough to do more than watch tv and do a few puzzles. Now - living in sheltered housing with assisted living; use power wheelchair to get around my flat, with a couple of walkers for bedroom and bathroom where the chair can’t get. Was widowed way back in the 1980s with a nine-year-old daughter, very much a Daddy’s girl. She’s now in her 40s, has been married and divorced, has a 16year old lad and an almost 13year old girl, and their dad really does pull his weight with the youngsters. I keep sane via phone, messaging, emailing, FaceTime and Skype! Read masses of books on audible, love doing jigsaws on my iPad, and I do have a laptop (old and slow!) which gets used for some things. I do online courses and listen to The Great Courses books on all kinds of topics. Have a wonderful view from the flat and I can watch the activities on my bird feeders! There are, there must be topics which don’t interest me at all, but I keep my brain active on all the rest which I do find interesting, even fascinating! Make of that what you will. I look forward to hearing from people who find bells ringing in response to this and that!
