Chair issues!

Hey, I have not got a very good computer chair (I actually think it would be pretty good for a non mser... it was the best of the three that came with my flat) and it really makes my muscles hurt, but I can't afford another chair, so do any of you have any tips about how to make my chair MS friendly or is it a lost cause? I already have a lovely Spider-Man cushion on it, but it's not made that much difference. I spend a large part of my life in this chair doing uni work(or at least I really should) so I hope there is some cheap fix.I figured you lot might have some ideas! Thanks, Kirsty

I wish I could help but my chair in work is a nightmare and I can't do a thing with it. Good luck anyway hope you can fix it. X

Hi Kirsty, I'm really no expert on this sort of thing so don't want to offer advice that might make things worse! It's almost certainly worth checking that your chair/desk set up is as good as it can be so that you're the right height/distance etc. There are loads of workstation assessment guides available online (apparently the Hewlett Packard Safety and Comfort Guide is a good one www.hp.com/ergo/pdfs/417893/003.pdf though the pictures are really old!). One thing I would say, because I am really guilty of it (!) is to make sure you take regular breaks so that you're not sitting in a crap position for too long. If your balance is up to it, alternating between your chair and an inflatable gym ball might help? Hope you find some relief! xx
