Car Insurance

I was aiming on getting some car insurance for my new car (first car) and I went on compare the market to get some insurance quotes and when I first put my info in I forgot to say that I had a restricted licence to 3 years (is this correct??) and was quoted around 800. But when I corrected it it shot up to 1500!! Has anyone else had this?! Surely cannot be legal? Does anyone have any tips on this? Or suggestions on companies etc??

@jm141 , you're right it isn't legal. They're infringing the Equality Act 2010. They're not allowed to discriminate like that. What to do about it, I'm not sure. You could try pointing it out to them. If you don't get the right answer, there's always the Insurance Ombudsman............
