Calling all Canadian Youth!

Hi everyone! Melissa here. Some of you may know that I volunteer here on Shift.ms, but I'm also involved with the MS Society here in Toronto, Canada. Right now I'm on a committee involved with the planning of an upcoming summit for young people called MS Can Be! This is for anyone in Canada, able to come to Toronto, aged 18-36. I know there are lots of us Canadians on the site here, so hopefully some of you see this! The MS Can Be summit invites young people affected by MS (either living with MS or who have a loved one with MS) to spend a weekend networking with others from their regions, learning skills, and building capacity so they can be inspired to enact change in their local communities. This is a volunteer driven event led by a committee of young people who want to see a change in the narrative for the next generation of people affected by MS. Content of the summit will cover topics such as fundraising and event planning, wellness, storytelling, creating online communities and media literacy, public speaking, and engaging school aged youth. The final morning will see participants grouped by region to begin formulating plans for a project of their choice in their home communities. The event is taking place on Sept 20-22 at the Holiday Inn Yorkdale in Toronto. Most costs are covered. For more information and to apply, visit www.mssociety.ca/mscanbe Hope to see some of you there!

If anyone sees this and has any questions, just send me a message!

@melissag

Just wanted to clarify that this is actually for anyone in Canada aged 19-36, not 18 as I had said before! Maybe it’s best to call us “young people” instead of youth 😆
