Big sigh 😔

I’m having more falls of late. Been really really hard lately. I have a walking frame with wheels and it’s also has a seat to rest. But my legs are not having it. They just give up on me making me fall.

my arms feel as though there is no strength in them so trying to stop myself falling is a mission.

Luckily I’ve not really injured myself, just grazes on the elbows.

It just gets harder and harder every week

Hi @rotherhamdave, I am still very new to this so haven’t got any pearls of wisdom for you, but I felt sorry to read you’ve been falling. I had a spell of that thru the summer last year when it was hot, and it made me nervous to leave the house. I hope that this is a temporary set back for you, and that you’ve got an appointment lined up with someone who can offer some reassurance and advice. It’s hard to try and keep positive and motivated when it’s all going pear shaped but I hope next week is a better one for you.

You seem very young in your picture. I wondered what type of ms diagnoses do you have and how long ago was you diagnosed. I use a wheely walker and i agree my arms kill. I’ve had my son drill new holes to restmy arms higher and straighten my posture maybe this might help.

I too have secondary progressive I was diagnosed 1990 and i’m now 54. Nobody can predict how your body is gonna deal with this robbing illness. But as my upper body weakens a good tool you can buy for 10 pounds is the 9 hole peg test you can buy this on line. It helps with agility of your hands. Look into seated exercise or disabled friendly gym. I go to a spa pool the water is warm and your able to walk in the water. If we dont move as much as we can we will deteriorate faster. I get pathways magazine from the ms society its not sad it gives info about new drugs and therapy centres that may be in your area. I always look forward to receiving it. Take care dave.

Hi Dave, just a thought, I don’t know what you’ve got in the way of mobility scooters/ wheelchairs but when I have a really bad day when my legs aren’t even up to wall/ furniture walking I use my mobility scooter or electric wheelchair to get round the house. It might not be pretty, but it works. Use everything that’s available😜🤞

@rotherhamdave, really sorry about yr falls – it’s good no serious damage was done. I’ve gone through the Walker with Seat stage but I’ve got to accept my balance is such rubbish now the only answer for me is an Electric wh/ch. however I do rigorous exercises daily with weights and my live-in carer which keeps my legs and arms as strong as possible. I’m 79 so keep going…. if I can, you can. xx 😉

@rotherhamdave Ah mate feel ur pain
(- SP is the same illness – but well harder, with a lot more complications ,….

I fell over, trying to struggle on, breaking hand, ribs and banged the back of my head – which caused major issues! (Cerebellum ataxia – which is also a bee atch)

What I’m saying Is – don’t risk a fall!
I crawled about, then dusted off my travel scooter – which was good and worked indoors — (but broke! )

So ive been measured up for a self propelled and electric wheelchair.
wheelchair services were actually rather
good /the doc referred me and I took the nifty self propelled one home that day
It’s good – I get a bit of exercise, stops me from falling an is easy …(on a good day !!)

I reckon occupational health
will be able to assess u and home; and advise u fully / they would be good peeps to connect with via GP or MS nurse

Like me, u have no choice but to suck it up, keep yourself safe and just make ur life easier

If We can do it, (I’m 45, we r both too young for this shuite) u can – and needs must, right smiler ?

Keep ur pecker up lad
