@illiana , I believe that spasticity and circulation may be two separate issues.

There’s some useful information on spasticity here :-
http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Symptoms-Diagnosis/MS-Symptoms/Spasticity

As for the circulation issue, our MS can affect this. If the brain is not receiving the correct messages from our extremities, i.e. our hands and feet, then it can’t properly regulate the blood flow there.

Have a read through this:- http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Raynauds-phenomenon/Pages/Introduction.aspx , which gives this symptom a name…..

Hi, my biggest symptom is spasticity and I have been lucky enough to find a good physio who specializes in ms treatment, she has taught me lots of exercises to stretch my muscles in the opposite direction, to the way they want to go. This has helped a lot, as has good advice like making sure your feet are on the floor when sitting and not sleeping lying straight out. Lyrica before bed also helps the muscles to relax a little. I have one bad leg that sometimes I wish I could cut off, just so I could relax and forget all this crap, but it isn’t to be, so find a good physio and do the exercises. Good luck

@tabbycat what do you mean not sleeping lying straight out, have u been told is it better to bend ur legs then, i saw a physio for 3 months who taught me next to nothing, all she made me do was stand up n sit down over and over without using my hands to push myself up, she was a neuro physio x

Yes, she taught me to sleep curled up, but I don’t always manage it. She also taught me to stretch calf muscles, thigh muscles and even my toes on the bottom step of the stairs to try to stop my toes cramping and curling. I don’t think they can cure the spasms, but they can help us to feel we can do something to help ourselves and that is sometimes the most important thing on just keeping fighting.

Just took at look at @stumbler link ( many thanks as ever! ) and the the first link has a link to an exercise manual that has many of the ex. My physio recommends. I am going to print it out to keep next to My desk . Many of them look very simple, but are really good – just spent the last ten minutes trying to spread my toes !!

Yes can relate to all of that, my physio was Nxt to useless as well, yes do sleep with knees up, start that way at least, and use the stairs to do my calf an leg stretches, takes ages to get to the top. Lol
