Shoulder and arm pain

Anyone out there had any of the following? Last 24 hours I’ve had a lot of pain in my right shoulder and right arm! Not had it before not sure if it’s the MS or a muscular skeletal issue? Pain can run all the way to the end of my little finger which is a little knumb. Hope it will pass but no sign of relenting and I don’t want to waste GP or MS nurses time?

@justjon , it doesn’t sound like MS, although MS may be indirectly responsible.

If we have an MS weakness, we tend to compensate and change our habits. This can lead to bad practice, poor posture and incorrect gait.

If it’s been a problem for a few days, contact your MS Nurse and see if they can arrange a referral to a Neuro-physio. These are specialist physios, who will look at the problem, assess what is and isn’t working and provide ecxercises to address.

Thanks Stumbler I have emailed my Ms nurse this evening so will see what happens! I guess it’s pretty easy to blame everything on Ms as it does do some weird things. Fairly sure it’s not an Ms thing. The pain is unreal! Thanks for the advice stumbler I’ll update when I know more.

A fairly good test of whether it’s neurological is whether it responds to warmth/cold and/or painkillers. Have a try of paracetamol and a hot water bottle and/or ice. If it eases as a result it’s likely musculo-skeletal. Also – was there a trigger to the pain? i.e. did you do any unusual lifting or carrying? When I was getting back pain, the physio told me that inflammation typically takes 24+ hours to build. In other words, you can over-exert yourself with no apparent effect, then some time later the damage hits! xx

I have bad pain in my right arm suffering from ataxia (spasms/tremor). Good luck with the MS nurse.

@justjon I have pain in my left arm and shoulder for some time now not MS related
GP is going with Fibromyalgia not diagnosed yet though
Looking at Fibro site a lot of their symptoms overlap with MS

Haven’t seen my MS nurse yet about it GOOD LUCK with yours
