Respect, please

Hello everyone. The sun is out today too, and being a cold winter day it’s good to see the light through the bare branches…but I’m here because I would like to get rid of an unpleasant feeling weighing on my chest after reading something this morning about DMD…because I’m one of those who don’t take any DMD!!!
I chose not to many years ago, but I must admit that I had already done most of what I wanted with my life before I was diagnosed. Thinking back, I realise that the same signs which worried my gp (lack of balance with eyes closed) who sent me to the neurologist and immediately after for a mri, were there some twenty years before. I achieved goals that I would have never ever if I had known that ms was there. Not knowing was, in my case and knowing the beast I am😉, the best.
The choice of not following the neurologist’s advice was NOT taken lightly.
I did at the beginning, and then some years later.
However: life had to have a meaning a part from ms (and with ms too) which meant that I had to make an active choice…. I needed to continue being independent, no restrictions or ties of any sort (of the kind: DO this, otherwise…), but mostly I needed RESPECT…
When I was a child there was my big brother (in the world of learning difficulty) who taught me the meaning of that…later on, in my life, RESPECT was the MUST to be able to communicate with many others.
What I read this morning lacked completely of that. And I felt utterly diminished. What, am I a despicable human being because I did not choose any DMD???
With or without DMD we are everyone in our own right…we are!! Don’t you think?
I like because it NEVER judges and I need an exchange where that is the main rule.
Thank you for being there the way you are.

Everybody, in any situation in life, needs to do what is right for them and it is nobody else’s right to pass judgement. Live and let live. Well worded post.

We all are THE expert by now in our own health and what works for us. So do what is best for you. I can only say well done to you for doing what you need to do.

Respect is a dying attribute these days. We were better off for learning it………

I believe we all have an opinion and respect is accepting other people opinions may be different to ours.
