@sheen , there are presently no medications for PPMS or SPMS, apart from Ocrelizumab, which has recently been approved in the US for PPMS.

However, I believe that Ocrelizumab depends on the stage of your condition. It is probably a lot more effective in the early stages of PPMS, where there is an adequate neuronal reserve to be exploited.

In SPMS, we have probably exhausted our neuronal reserve, which would be the same issue in latter stage PPMS.

That’s just my view…………. 😉

So would statin trial be available for me even though they’re only mentioning spms, in your opinion? My ms nurse hasn’t got back to me. I’m feeling impatient

It is just my opinion, @sheen , but isn’t the statin trial supposed to slowdown brain atrophy?

All the previous trials have focused on SPMS, but I can’t see why you wouldn’t potentially get the same results with PPMS. It might just require some additional specific trials to check safety etc.
