They should do antibodies for it as part of the initial testing I think
They do it on the nhs too

Yes, it’s tested using both blood tests and MRI to the spinal cord.

I’ve recently been tested for NMO, four years after MS dx, It’s as a result of discussing medication options and there was no record of me having the NMO test. I’ve not had the results yet, but from what I’ve read, I don’t think it’ll be NMO, my relapses, symptoms, MRI’s, LP and other tests have all supported the MS diagnosis.

Heya,

I was tested right at the get go via a blood test. One of the blood samples went to Japan… I was quite jealous, seeing as I have yet to go there myself! Odd to think my blood has been abroad without me!

I had the relevant blood tests for NMO done twice after a very aggressive attack of optic neuritis. I’m sure most doctors will be more than happy to do it if they think it’s a possibility.
