Medication decisions

I’ve been offered Tecfidera or Lemtrada. Part of me wants to play it safe with the first one; the other wants to just go for it with Lemtrada.

I’m 29 and newly diagnosed (although I’ve likely had it 10 years, it started with seizures which were assumed to be epilepsy at the time).

I’ve got 2 weeks to decide. Lemtrada has such good reviews (despite the risks). Arghh what to do?!?!

Of course it’s a personal choice and in the end you need to pick what feels right for you but I’d say Go for the Lem! It is the best drug available at the mo and the whole treatment is a major anti climax, promise 😉
Try fb lemtrada (alemtuzumab Campath) uk page it’s ram packed with info and a very friendly community. Good luck on your journey.

My wife is using tecfidera but she is over 40. Based on what you said and assuming your ms is active based on the fact they offered thst medication I would likely take the extra risk and go with Lemtrada especially if there is a chance you will be having kids in the future.

You should be able to talk through with an MS nurse who can help you to understand the risks and benefits and how they apply to your paritcular situation.

Personally, I think that Lemtrada is too risky for me right now (with minial disability and not very active MS). I am arranging to take Cladribine instead if I can. However, I would take Lemtrada if Cladribine is not offered.

Tecfidera is a good option as well, but I had really bad side effects. Without the side effects, I would have kept taking it as I think it was the best option for me in terms of risks and effectiveness.

Hi, so I’m 26 – diagnosed 4/5 years (kind of) I was offered lemtrada (this was the number 1 offer for me) and another one maybe capaxone (injection in the leg daily) it was a massive decision- but I’m a go big or go home kinda person. I figured I’m pretty fit and healthy now so why not!?
Better chance of it working – and no drugs in my system was a big thing for me!..
I don’t want to rabble on but if you wanted to know more I’m happy to answer questions about my treatment 😊
