@rotherhamdave , there’s a few previous posts about vitamin B12.

Use the Forum Search function (magnifying glass, top left) and search for “B12”.

I started taking B12 and D when I started on Gilenya and I feel 100% better than when I was on Tecfidera. I don’t know which of the tablets is responsible but I’m not going to cut any out to try and find out!

My neurologist did a blood test years ago to check my B12…i was deficient. I am on 3 monthly injections an I can tell when my next one is due.
At the time my neuro team were testing all their ms patients for B12 because at the time research showed a high % of people with MS were difficient…im not sure if this is still the case…this was 15 years ago 😲

Try and get it prescribed as there are several reputable studies (can dig out if needs be) that show that the reliability of many Over The Counter (OTC) preparations can vary wildly in terms of accurate dosing.

When a product is provided in return for a prescription, it has undergone far more stringent Quality Control (QC) tests and as a result the dosing is far more accurate and reliable.

Additionally, I have convinced my GP to prescribe me 5 months at a time of Vitamin D3. That makes it far cheaper as I pay one prescription charge once.

There is still debate – here is a good piece of journalism: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/health/canadian-study-suggests-vitamin-d-panacea-is-overblown/article30509128/

However, apparently a show of hands at Ectrims a few years ago saw a large majority of neurologists and attendant specialists who took significant doses Vit D3 . I wasn’t there so it is me reporting hearsay. However, my source was and they were shocked!
