Drugs in the pipeline

MS is so frusturating. Does anyone know if there are even stronger therapies in the pipeline? Are we close to a cure? A vaccine?

Hi @leslie123

I think this is a very interesting finding that was made that will probably be one of the keys to getting over PPMS finally:

Also there is a stem cell therapy phase 2 for PPMS without chemo that looks interesting to me:

I think the best area for MS focus is in the realm of stem cells.

Hi Ebaldwin. Do you know what it’s called? Or the name of the magazine so I can look it up?

The cure in HIV probably refers to the antiviral treatments (HART) that those patients get. Apparently, MS rates are lower in that population. Epstein Barr virus and retroviruses called HERVs are thought to be implicated in getting MS. Lots of new interesting treatments in the pipeline will be appearing over the coming years.

While not cures, HSCT, ocrevus/rituximab, tysabri, lemtrada & cladribine are closest to cures that we now have.
