Appointment

So I’ve got my neurologist Dr tomorrow which is Tuesday which has been a year last time I saw him. Why do I need to travel 9 miles just to hear him say “how have you been getting on?” It’ll just be the same discussion as last. Unless he can help with my hand tremors n walk better then it’ll be worth going, but I know it’ll be a waste of time. I know the game.

@ rotherhamdave play the game then. Write everything down, have the tremors been getting no worse? Is the walking worse? Do you have an ms nurse, as a rule they are better bets than the neurologists anyway, they are better at organising ot’s and sprescriptoins. Try everything you can, as @stumbler says it’s the squeaky wheel that gets oiled🥊🤙🎉

Tremors start when I start doing things n walking now is/has gotten worse. I do have an ms nurse which I’m due to see him. If I wrote it down I wouldn’t be able to read it so it’s good that I have a good memory

@rotherhamdave , that was exactly the situation I was in a couple of years ago. I agreed that the Neuro should discharge me.

The door is always open if an appropriate DMT or trial becomes available. But, the MS nurse should be able to handle symptom management.

@rotherhamdave
Just a thought, type a list on your phone and text it to your self or email it to yourself.
Then it’ll be easier to read and in your pocket so to speak.
Hope it goes well for you.

Dave,

If tout neuro is teally that useless then why don’t you change? Alternatively, you can ask them what they hope to achieve. No point wasting your time if they are doing nothing useful.

They often perform better when you ask questions. If they give crap answers then definitely change. You owe it to yourself.

@rotherhamdave I don’t along with my Neurologist either. I feel like they never listen what is coming out of my mouth! You went to school and decided to become a doctor because you wanted to help people, right? so freaking HELP ME!!! stop taking my money and do something! I get how you feel defeated with it even before you go see them. I actually have an appointment to see mine here in Hawaii for the last time before I leave back to NY and I am going to tell him how I really feel, lol. I hope the doctors in NY are better. Hope your goes well! 🙂

Hi Dave, It’s hard to know what productive stuff will come out of an annual. I usually make a list beforehand and that seems to engage the doctor more.

– doctor visits since I last saw him, and for what
– changes to drugs
– changes to diet
– changes to exercise
– new/unusual symptoms
– worsening symptoms
