Any staff nurses on here.

Just wondering how you guys cope with the long shifts, I am doing back after being off for 6 weeks. I only do 2 shifts per week, split days. However suffer for it on days off. X

Hi,
I am an RGN but no longer work on the wards. It must be an absolute killer doing the shifts, I assume you work on the wards? What about redeployment if it’s to too difficult. Hope they can find a way to make it easier for you.

Thanks for the reply, I am going to occ health on the 13th. I have been thinking of redeployment, I will mention it to them and see what they say. X

I work as a staff nurse at present , occy health and my unit manager have been very supportive they said I should work shifts which suit me at present, I very rarely do the long days as I struggle but I do more night shifts which I cope better with. More breaks and sitting down time than on days.
I don’t know which area you work but I work on intensive care but I don’t think I would manage a general ward any more hope occy health help you too ?
