I hadn’t run for over 12 months … partially to me thinking I couldn’t and because I couldn’t be bothered.

I started back up a few weeks back but I have loss of feeling all down my right side and have a fair bit of muscle loss around my right calf. It’s going to be a work in progress for me I think but I really do miss it.

I ran the New York marathon in 4hr 21min in 2005 3 months later I started to have problems with my right leg, now I couldnt run 2 yards, it drives me mad, I still go to the gym everyday but cardio is difficult. Keep pushing yourself hard for as long as you can is my advice, I would rather burn out, than go rusty, Nick

Hey Graham, I’ve had MS for about 3 years and hadn’t been able to run or even jog, couldn’t even run for a bus. A few weeks ago though me and a few friends had a train to catch but the station was 5 mins away and would require the best part of a sprint to make it……and I did! Actually ran quite comfortably!
Fortunately, running recreationally is something I find skull numbingly boring so it hasn’t hindered me, hopefully though, you’ll get it back as I have as I guess it’ll mean a little more to you than it does me!

Generally I don’t have a problem with running although sometimes my legs do give up on me and I stumble about a bit. I’ve always been told I run “funny” – now I have something to blame 😉

Hey,
yea I still run, I didn’t really before I got diagnosed (around 6-7 years ago) but found I wasn’t able due to the MS to keep up with the football etc so took it up. I ended up doing the New York Marathon in November! It’s not easy, I find my left leg goes in slow motion a fair bit, I stumble, sometimes trip and I have to use my hips to get my left leg through. Might not look pretty but it keeps me moving! Some days I feel stronger than others but I guess that is just part of the living with MS!

i am not able to run any more but can still walk a few miles if temperatures are cool enough. don’t think it will ever come back (but i do have a lot of “running dreams” when sleeping which is annoying as hell.)

I’ve noticed when I exercise now that I seem to lose feeling in a couple of my toes??? … sounds weird but anyone else get that sensation?
