Tecfidera - cause of depression?

Hi guys, I've just switched (2 weeks ago) from Avonex to BG12. I had been warned of side effects, but I'm having a different set to those I was expecting. No flushing, no stomach trouble, but I'm picking up mini-viruses (currently it's conjunctivitis) and I'm feeling very sad all the time. Does anyone else have these side effects? And I'd love to know how I can feel happier - do you just get used to it? Many thanks! Julie

@pinkie , I have no personal experience, but I should imagine that there must be a few emotions in evidence, given the circumstances. There must be an underlying reason for the switch to Tecfidera, so there may be some concern/apprehension regarding whether the Tecfidera is the answer you want. And that goes along with the concern about potential side-effects. On that basis, it is too soon for you to make a definitive judgement. Alternatively, you could just be sad that you've said good-bye to all those needles........

Thanks, @stumbler. I switched because I've moved to a new health authority, and as the info on Tecfidera is very promising I thought I'd give it a go. Avonex gave me those good old flu-like symptoms right to the end. The BG12 reaction seems to be more insidious, but I was going to see how I felt by Christmas. It toys with your immune system, as far as I know - letting little viruses have a go. So flu jab will be absolutely necessary this year! I do not miss the needles, or the useless Heathcare at Home (HAH!) - but 2 pills a day makes me feel more like an ill person. Thanks for your feedback :-) Julie
