Dizziness

Hello, I just have to talk about this new exhaustion state I seem to be in. So ever since I had what I originally thought was a mastoid infection (later turned out to be an MS relapse). I have this residual feeling of what I would call drunkenness. This relapse started Mid April and resolved (for the most part) 4-5 weeks later. And here at the end of June I just can't seem to get it together. I am exhausted and still feeling kind of dizzy. I do not even look forward to getting up in the morning because this is what I deal with. I'm trying to keep going. Finally some of my personal stress is lifted but I'm feeling crappy...I have not had problems for almost 20 years so this is not like me...any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated! Ps I have an MRI scheduled for July 10

@angieh , I always get a bit concerned about relapse activity, when something else is going on. Any infection which activates our compromised immune systems can spark off a "pseudo exacerbation". This temporarily emphasises our MS symptoms until the underlying infection is cleared. Then things tend to return to where they are. Whilst I appreciate that your suspicions of a mastoid infection were unfounded, it is prudent to try and rule out any other infections, before assuming that you are suffering a relapse. UTIs are a major source of pseudo-exacerbations. Hopefully the upcoming MRI scan will provide some answers. In the meantime, you may find the following publication useful :- https://support.mstrust.org.uk/file/living-with-fatigue.pdf

@Vixen

Hi there. Well, I am at no level an expert as I haven't been diagnosed long. But in my experience, my relapse was officially over and tests showed improvements etc. BUT I can tell you that my recovery took maybe five or so months. I think you and I are similar ages, so maybe in your case your body hasn't bounced back quite so quickly as it did years ago. But that will be the same for everyone regardless of MS or not. For example, my husband is fit and heathy and yet in the past year since early fifties, he is much less active and has started napping in the daytime sometimes. Are you on medication? When my MS nurse asks me about symptoms, emotions etc I always laugh, because how can you work out what is what given that I am female; menopause, hormones, emotions, MS, getting older, work stress......It sounds like your approach and lifestyle has held things at bay for you which is wonderful. And it will do so again, it's isn't that it might take a little longer. All the best to you, even across the Atlantic there are people who understand what you are going through. :-)
