Eye Pain- not optic neuritis

I had optic neuritis in my left eye in June 2014. I just had another mri which shows it's still damaged. I saw my eye specialist yesterday who explained the mri results to me- basically it's not going to get any better. However I get a lot of eye pain in both eyes. It's not the same pain as ON where it hurts to move your eye, it's just like a constant pain in the eyeball. I told specialist my good eye hurt as well but mri and his examination showed it was normal. He doesn't know why it is painful. Has anyone else suffered this?

Does it feel as though you've been punched in the eye? I get that sometimes and it is as yet undiagnosed unfortunately... If you find out before me, please let me know!

@adam1407 haha I've never been punched in the eye so I don't know. Ive poked myself in the eye,a million years ago, it's probably similar to that. I described it to my doctor as feeling like I have a bruised eyeball. I see my neuro at the end of the month so I'll see if he has any answers.
