help with avonex

My name is abbie i was just recently diagnosed with MS. I had my first episode when i was 10, im 14 now. Im starting weekly injections of Avonex and i was wondering if anyone can help me out andntell me what to expect when i start the medication? Thank you, also i just need someone to talk to. As im quite young this has affected me quite a bit. i didnt handle it well at first, i couldnt stop worrying i was so upset. What upsets me the most is knowing i wont be able to have a bright future or do any of the fun things my friends are going to be able to do. My friends dont really understand how serious MS is and how much it can affect someone.. i feel so alone sometimes i just need someone to speak to that understands me. Thank you.

I'm really sorry to hear about your diagnosis at only 14. I'm ancient compared to you Abbie but my advice would be to live in the moment and enjoy life, do what you can do and don't fret about what you can't do. Friends/non MSers can't understand what MS is like so it's best just to accept that and come on here for understanding and ears to listen, eyes to read. We here are all in one big boat so we know what it's like. The MS Trust and the MS Society are useful sources of information. And lastly, things are progressing on research so hopefully for someone your age it should be of benefit in years to come. We're a good crowd on here and support each other. Good Luck🍀.....xx

Morning @abbie_dale Hope you are well today. I guess you already know about the MS Therapy Centre in Inverness? I have a friend who stays in Snecky and the MS centre is wonderful. I'm a bit away from you (Aberdeen) and I too also feel like a dinosaur, lol. I'm 45, had RRMS then transitioned to SPMS but I'm still going Abbie. You will do just fine. I was on one of the CRAB drugs that you are about to start. You may just get flu like symptom's and a little awkwardness of a raised bump where you inject but I just took 2 over the counter ibuprofen 1hr before injection for a month or so. Love to you, you are doing great. ❤❤ Lisa. xxx
