Ocrevus and moving (back) to the Republic of Ireland

Hi everyone. Have you moved or do you know someone who moved to the Republic of Ireland after being diagnosed with MS in a different country? If yes, then I'd be grateful for any info you can put in the comments or by private message about the hoops you needed to jump through to access treatment. My circumstances are that I'm Irish and looking at the possibility of moving back to the Republic of Ireland after many years away. I was diagnosed with rapidly evolving RRMS a few years ago in Switzerland. Initially I was put on Tysabri but then quickly moved to Ocrevus/Ocrelizumab. Ocrevus has been highly effective in my case but I would not have qualified for it if I was diagnosed while in Ireland as, I think, it is only given to SPMS patients there - so I'm extremely interested in the experience of anyone who moved to Ireland after having begun treatment on Ocrevus in another country. With thanks Seán

Hi there! Just saying hello really. I wasn't diagnosed elsewhere and moved back to Ireland and I'm PPMS so not really what you are looking for but I am in Ireland and being treated with Ocrevus in Galway. I was given a choice between Tysabri and Ocrevus and chose Ocrevus myself. Neuro was happy with that. I only just completed the second part of the first dose yesterday so it's early days for me. Surely they won't want to change your treatment? I suppose it depends who part of the country you are planning on and who your Neuro is etc? Anyway, It's not only SPMS people in Ireland who get Ocrevus :-) The nurse yesterday was telling me yesterday about another patient on Ocrevus who sounded very much like an RRMS person (anecdotal I know).

Hi @janeybaby many thanks for the response. Anecdotal it might be but it’s still very helpful and gives me some leads for people I can start calling up. I hope ocrevus goes well for you- I’ve been lucky enough to have near zero side affects after three years on it and I hope you respond similarly. Your note is much appreciated.
