How well do you recover from relapses?

Hi. I was diagnosed with ms January last year. I quickly had 5 relapses in 4 months and was put on Lemtrada June last year. All went well with treatment and luckily so far it has kept relapses at bay. However, the damage left from my relapses has stayed and quite considerably too. I use a wheelchair as well as double crutches for brief walking. Is this "normal" (I use thy word loosely) in ms? I always understood that with RRMS, you have a relapse but you get better. My existing symptoms just seem to be getting worse. I see my neuro in 2 weeks but just wanted to see what others thoughts are or their experiences. Keep smiling. Chloe

@chloeautumnx , RRMS is the usual form of this progressive, degenerative condition. Yes, RRMS involves relapse, followed by periods of remission. Unfortunately, we don't always remit back to how we were before the relapse started, i.e. we progress. With Lemtrada, the more damage that we start with, the longer it will take to repair. We just hope that Lemtrada stops the MS causing us damage, which then gives your brain the flexibility to get on with the repair..... So remain hopeful.

Thanks @stumbler. I guess what I'm asking is, do you think it's already gone as progressive?
