What is the brain capable of?

I've just had the unusual experience of being free of sensory symptoms while on holiday. Not surprising, you might think, as I was enjoying myself. But it's never happened before on holiday and I get symptoms nine days out of ten when I'm home. The difference this time was that I was on a very hard language course, a total immersion experience. The classes were five hours a day over a week with lots of role play (therefore huge embarrassment potential!) I had to concentrate massively, so hard it gave me headaches and I needed to go over it all in my room after class. I can only think that the brain in some way over-rode the MS or at least masked it. I've just been talking to the physio, who tells me that it's only by actually learning something new that slows degeneration of brain cells. Interesting.

I don't know, @orlando27. I suppose it could be coincidence and it would have happened even if I had never left the house but it's very strange. In spite of how difficult it was, I enjoyed myself greatly and have decided to carry on and do level two next Easter. And who knows, perhaps it WILL improve the brain!

To clarify, I'm not on Lemtrada. It's gilenya, so I don't expect symptom reversal. But I know that MS is unpredictable, so I suppose it could be a spontaneous change.... but on balance I think it's more likely that it was the unusual demands I was making on my brain.
